Trail Details
The main trail runs approximately 2 miles one way, with minimal elevation change. The smooth paved surface accommodates strollers, wheelchairs, and bicycles, making it accessible to visitors of all abilities. The tunnels themselves are cool and shaded—a welcome relief on hot summer days.
What You'll See
Views of the Arkansas River and surrounding canyon walls accompany you throughout the hike. Keep an eye out for bighorn sheep on the rocky slopes above—they're frequently spotted in this area. The historic tunnels, originally built for railroad use, add character to the journey.
Practical Information
